Ok, once itis all put together its nice. You cant use power tools to put it together. It takes forever and my hand feels like it is going to fall off. I followed the directions and the top two shelves on either side seem as if the holes drilled for the pegs for the shelves are not exactly level with each other..... Not terribly noticeable at a glance but since I put it together I noticed. It easily took me three hours alone to put it together. It is particle board hence why the no use of power tools. I tried and it made me start to rethink all of my life decision up to that very moment. Plan for a good chunk of time for assembly if you are alone. This was also the second piece of furniture of the night after work that I decided to put together so that may be why it took me so long. It is pretty esthetically.
The only reason I gave it four stars is because we had to drill more cord holes in the back; it comes with several cord holes but we have a LOT of cords due to the many components we have. We also had to “cut” more of the backing from the bottom middle shelf to accommodate our huge Onkyo receiver (the Onkyo is about 11 inches front to back + cords behind it). This is a pic with a 55” TV. I really love the look and sturdiness. I also like how the bottom is fully closed (it sits flush to the floor, no openings for dust, etc. to get underneath the unit). It came with instructions and took about an hour with two people assembling. Easy to follow instructions. The longest part of the assembly for us was the transferring of all our components and the sorting of cords. The barn doors mount and slide perfectly.
I love this entertainment unit. The unit is quite hefty, so it does not feel cheap at all. It is well-designed and was fairly easy to assemble, with the help of my three-year-old. It is made of laminate/fiberboard, but I did not expect real hardwood for this price. Nearly every aspect of this TV stand met or exceeded my expectations, with the exception of the shelf space. The shelves themselves are nice and heavily constructed, however, they are not very versatile. Gaming systems and cable boxes can pretty much only go in the center storage area, and the sides are pretty much only designed to hold DVDs/Blu-rays. Its not a huge issue, but it does not allow for really making the area your own. Overall, I did definitely recommend to anyone considering this purchase.
