The entertainment center is overall a great quality. Assembly was difficult due to poor instructions and diagrams, so pay attention to details! The pictures do show orientation of components however they can be musleading. The sliding doors work great. There are magnets inside that help lock them in center or edge so.they do notdrift. This unit is particle board/composite, however it is pretty durable. The panels are very thick and we will designed. Upon delivery, I did notice the base had a crack. I do not believe this is a defective in quality, but poor shipper treatment. The packaging was well packages from manufacterer so that is not an issue. Due to it is weight I suggest inspecting the box for damage upon arrival, and having a second hand to move it!
After mounting the back plane of this product it provided a more solid feel. I will say that I would not recommend moving this product often as this would probably weaken the integrity (plus it is very heavy and not easy to move especially on carpet). As stated before the pieces are very solid individually and unit looks very nice once assembled. I have upgraded my previous review from 1 star to 4 star since resolving the sturdy issues that I was having. Product was received 1 day early than expected and all pieces were in 100% condition. This took me about 2 hours to assemble by myself and really looks great after it is all assembled. I will agree with other reviews that the packaging was a bit of annoying with the Styrofoam pieces sticking to the pieces and took a while for clean up after being built but overall I have decided to keep product and I am satisfied.
This unit is very easy to assemble, I only had difficulty with one part (and that is saying a lot since I am a 60 year old female who is not very strong physically) - the last step of assembly is to screw some very long screws into 8 holes to attach the bottom of the shelf. Those screws were blunt bottom, not sharp, and they would not screw in no matter what I tried, even when I tried starting the hole with a big nail. After five minutes, I gave up and just used nails in place of the screws.
